It was a very hard winter in 1983 and for three highly talented songwriters it seems to be the bitter end:
Starving in a small and dark room just a few bottles of poor alcoholics gave some comfort. For more than 20 years Mike Stock, Matt Aitken and Pete Waterman have revolutionated the world of pop music, but always other guys made money with it: The Supremes and Stevie Wonder, The Four Tops and Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and Mary Wells, even the Jackson 5 stole their ideas to create own songs with it.
Our heroes seemed to be totally lost back than, but there was a real big fan with big money. He encoured them to record new versions of their old songs. As we all know by now: In the 80’s the three guys became millonaires with never ending chart success.
Lord Aitken & the Astleyminogues now presents the original versions of all those songs, that are famous in their 1980’s arrangements. All over the world they searched for old records, tapes and acetates to recreate the sound they had 40 years ago!! And here it is: the Stock, Aitken, Waterman-Songbook!!
